Percussion students often struggle with the instruments that require pitch recognition. It is tough enough to learn to play in the key of C, but then when you throw in accidentals and upper and lower ranges many students give up and try to stick with only non-pitched percussion instruments.
What young drummers need is a system for quizzing themselves on note names and tone bar placement. This fingering chart, along with the flashcards, will help both beginning and more advanced players learn, memorize, and master every note, note name, and tone bar on the mallet percussion instruments.
